I’ve always been extremely lucky when it comes to my skin. I’ve had so few spots, and if I do get one it goes almost as quickly as it arrives. Blessed be my skin, I suppose everyone has got that one good thing they love physically.
However, I don’t get lazy about it. I still like to treat my skin and as my Mum ALWAYS said it’s prevention not cure. I love skin care that makes you feel like you’ve done a little work for it. A process. I used to be more of a sucker for novelty stuff but as I’ve gotten older I like to think I know what works best on my skin. Which for reference is pretty normal, but also gets so sweaty in hot weather which stops me wearing a lot of make up, no doubt that helps with the lack of spots. So what do I use to attempt to keep my skin looking youthful and fresh?
- Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish – The Staple
The first time I tried Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish I was staying with my Aunt’s friend and she let me use hers to take my make up off. I instantly fell in love. The thick cream smudging my make up all across my face, making me look like some tragic clown/mime. Then using the cloth with some hot water to wipe it all away. It was like a transformation. Like I’d taken my entire day and completely refreshed and it gave me life I swear. My Aunt’s friend said “Don’t be buying Liz Earle until you can afford it”… I won’t lie I still shouldn’t be buying it even now, but isn’t your skin worth it. Plus I still get that feeling every time I use it.
It’s a proven wonder product, a classic in the skincare world and renowned for it’s following. An absolute staple that my skin certainly wouldn’t be without.
2. L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Detox Face Mask – The Bargain
Who doesn’t love a good face mask, the ultimate sign of a pamper night. I’d been looking for something that might help me with around my nose, sometimes it just feels clogged. Like my pores are stuffed full of whatever crap is in the air. I got this on offer and thought, heck why not. Again it’s a process, I use a foundation brush to gently layer up this goop onto my face. I love watching it dry, and then moving my face to make it crack, pretty sure your not supposed to do that but I’m only human. I love the sensation as it drys on my skin as well, feels like it’s working. Better yet when I wipe it off, it does work. I feel like I’ve given my skin a healthy little boost. To take it through unto the next week and deliver.
I still use this even after I saw Cheryl Cole promoting it… I don’t dislike her per say, I just hate we spell our names the same and she’s a “Sh” and I’m a “Ch”… caused me no end of annoyance. But, I also still use this because like with the Cleanse and Polish it’s still working for me. I feel like the impurities are drawn out but my skin isn’t dried out. Also for the price, it’s heavenly.
3. Kiehls Cilantro & Orange Pollutant Defending Masque – The Treat
Oooh this one, this one is not cheap but dang… talk about effective. This little beauty, you put a good layer on your face (post-cleanse) and leave it for a few minutes, then gently wipe it off leaving a little residue, go to sleep and wake up with skin you CANNOT stop touching. Seriously you’ll be chasing people down the street to stroke your cheek. Unbelievable, and I hate that it costs so much. I treasure my little pot and pray it lasts forever. However, it’s just so damn good that if I am going to treat myself it’s this. It is so, so nourishing and the feeling lasts for a good little while. It also smells pretty lovely.
So if you really want that pampered feeling and for your skin to be as soft as a baby’s tush then I can swear by this product. It’s revitalising not only to your face but to your soul. Put’s a spring in your step.
So there you have it, my three key skin care items. I only religiously stick to the Liz Earle (which as you can tell from my big box of stuff I love for a lot of things), but I believe in trying new things for your skin. So any suggestions give me a tweet @Miss_CherylHill.
