It feels longer but a whole week has passed since the Forever Manchester Birthday Party 2017, months of planning culminating in one night of fun, awards, performances and most importantly a chance to bring our corporate supporters together with the communities they help fund.
It is an amazing project that after three years it keeps on getting better. Each time I do this event I feel more confident and more renewed in its purpose. The atmosphere isn’t like the usual awards do’s, there is a fun and uplifting feeling of spirit.
Something our children’s party/circus theme played into fantastically well this year. With stilt walkers, jugglers and acrobats in the drinks reception and face painters to add some sparkle adding sparkle to your look to the Red Hot Flames cheer leading performances finished off with a flair of pyrotechnics, it’s all fun and games. This is all topped off with one of Tony Walsh’s famed Manchester poems and with lines like “we are vimto in our veins” you can’t help but feel proud to be in Manchester and be a part of all of the amazing communities.
I mean really you need to be there to understand the feeling it ignites.
The thing that I always reflect on following the event is the support we get from our volunteers. Without them we wouldn’t be able to do this event and that’s the top and bottom of it. I can plan and pick themes and book venues and sort out performers and AV but without my team on the night it would fall apart.
From the guys who collect the tombola money from the tables and the people who’ve volunteered to stage manage or even the person who goes to get butties whilst setting up, every one of them is important to making the night what it has become known for, a success.
My thanks to the following volunteers for helping make the night what it was!
Kat Farys – Giraffe Event Solutions and Forever Manchester Ambassador
